Huge Cooling over the Past Year
This article recently appeared on Anthony Watt's website, which showed a massive drop in temperatures in the four main data series (UAH MSU, GISS, HadCRUT, & RSS MSU) from January 2007 to January 2008. Read the article for the graphs and some more details. He has attributed the drop to a combination of La Nina and very small sunspot activity. While this must be recognized as an anomoly in an extremely chaotic and near-random climate system, the magnitude of it is indeed interesting. The climate community is eagerly awaiting February data, and to my knowledge, only UAH has released February 2008 data, which shows a very small uptick in temperatures.
